Traveling Bishops or Residential Bishops? The Global Methodist Church

I've been writing a lot of late on the conversation around bishops in the Global Methodist Church. The outcome of the vote on the episcopacy at the Convening Conference later this month is likely to be one of the most consequential decisions made. If you're interested in this conversation but haven't had time to read and watch all the information that's out there, you might be interested in a video I've put together that offers a succinct analysis of the issues and a case for the General Superintendency Plan (for traveling bishops). Scroll down to watch the embedded video or click over and watch it on YouTube. And if you're wondering why Francis Asbury is featured on the thumbnail, it's because the General Superintendency Plan recovers the sort of episcopacy embodied by Asbury himself, even if bishops no longer ride horses. Interested in learning more about that? Check out Bishop Scott Jones' chapter 2 of Reconstructing Methodism. It's all about how we can recover a Francis Asbury style episcopacy.
